No Copyright!

The SalsaSelfie dance blog contains a lot of original material that in theory ought to be Copyrighted both when it comes to my writing about Cuban Salsa and social dancing and my own dancing.

But in my opinion, Copyright and social dancing don’t work well together.

Almost every week, at my Practica dancing sessions with some Follow, I suddenly discover that we have made up some new move, figure or combination that I have never done before, and that I have no knowledge of having seen before. Thanks good, I often video record my training sessions. I can find this new “thing” again, and start analyzing it and refining it for our next training session.

But have we created something new or what? Most likely some other dancers have done exactly the same or something similar in the almost 75 years people have danced Cuban Salsa. I might be the one that reintroduce or popularize this new figure, move or combo, but any thought of Copyright is just a laughable joke.

In other words, if you find anything of interest in my dancing, just feel inspired, and use it and modify it exactly as if you have created it yourself. I don’t own anything. The dance community is one big friendly “stealing” from one another community, that’s the way it has always been, and that’s the way it should always be because it makes us all better and better dancers.

I am a little bit more worried about my dance blog writings, because very few dancers write in depth about Cuban Salsa and social dancing. For that reason, some of my writings might seem quite unique and original, – because it is hard to find anything similar.

Link to my stuff, copy it, reformulate it, modify it and develop it further. Feel inspired! Make use of it as if it is your own, however you like as a dancer, dance instructor and dance school. It will only make me proud. I don’t expect credit for anything or ever to be mentioned.

Cheers
